Wow! We made it to our 8th year - thank you for all of your continued support! This year we are excited to announce that we will be hosting and performing in a new location:
Roots & Reverie | Riverview's Art Space | 901 Jefferson Street Suite G8, Lynchburg, VA 24504
Come join us for a night of music, warmth, friendship and celebration of life. Bring a new toy and we will drive them up to be distributed to UVA's Hematology/Oncology Clinic Toy Closet!
You all were amazing last year and continued to support and donate toys. The clinic was overwhelmed with hope, as were we, with your pouring out!  Come join us for a night of music, warmth, friendship and celebration of life. Bring a new toy and we will !
As many of you know, our eldest son Jude was diagnosed with cancer back in 2012. During that time, we had a life changing opportunity to see the love of God manifest itself through friends, family and strangers all around us through prayer and support. Thankfully, our son has been in good health since being declared in remission back in 2013. On a recent visit to Jude's annual survivorship check-up a couple of weeks ago, I asked if there was a need for toys this year, thinking they probably weren't accepting any gifts due to the pandemic. By surprise, I was then made aware by the social worker there that they were in great need and accepting new packaged toys (UVA can only accept unwrapped NEW toys).
Here's a little back story for context. - Jude was never good with needles... There wasn't ever a single easy needle stick with Jude - it was consistently always difficult. Treatment on top of that wasn't a whole lot fun for him either. It was in his knowledge that the toy closet was right down the hall, where he could pick out something that he could carry with him through his day/week of treatment that helped get him through those times. That little toy closet was an integral part of getting him through the hard stuff, and created a small window for a little bit of hope and joy to seep in. It became a source of excitement for Jude, and in a lot of ways, it gave him something to look forward to - in the midst of undergoing chemotherapy, or a blood transplant, or a shot to boost his white blood count, or a myriad of other things he was definitely not looking forward to... I can imagine that this humble toy closet has served many children throughout the years in similar ways and is the reason for what inspired the whole idea to start the Giving Back Concert Series.
Email me from the "QUESTIONS" page if you are interested in donating a gift/toy, or two, or ten; whatever your heart leads - or if you just have general questions and want to learn more about this journey and what we've been doing over the years.
We are always humbled and grateful by your giving. Know you will be blessing child/family that may potentially be in the fight of their life. Blessings.
